This year the children in grades K, 1, and 2 will collect food at our school and in the community and stock the shelves of the York County Homeless Shelter Food Pantry in Alfred, Maine.
This food pantry serves people in every town in York County and given the tough economic times we’re experiencing, it’s a great opportunity to bless those struggling to feed their families.
“The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor” (Proverbs 22:9).
“He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God”(Proverbs 14:31).
“Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all yourheart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Loveyour neighbor as yourself’” (Matthew 22:37-39).
“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and He will reward them for what theyhave done” (Proverbs 19:17).
