Click to view slideshow.Today’s guest chapel speaker was Pastor Ira Hall. He made the students laugh AND think hard! His theme involved storing up treasures in heaven. Ira used his recent trip to the Dominican Republic as part of an object lesson that helped support his message to the students. Enjoy some pictures of this special chapel time.

We have a strong line-up of chapel speakers for the next couple of months.

Pastor Ira Hall is coming this week (Feb.8th)

Pastor Jonathan Marshall will be speaking on February 15th.

Dana Perkins will be our guest chapel speaker on March 7th.

Looking Ahead: We are working on rescheduling a chapel time with Ben Wu (who we had to reschedule due to a storm delay) and scheduling a chapel time with Christine Ming from the Root Cellar.

Just a reminder: Family Satisfaction Surveys went home last Friday via e-mail. We have already begun to receive completed surveys, which is both helpful and encouraging. Thanks. We would like to have all surveys completed and returned by February 13th.

Looking Ahead: There will be a OVCS Family Information Night on Thursday, February 16th at 6:30pm. All returning families should plan on attending.

Public Speaking: Day 1 and 2

The First Volunteer!

On Wednesday the 1st through 4th grade students participated in a public speaking workshop! It was a great day and lots of good techniques were taught. Students were able to put what they learned into practice with a short speech to end the workshop! On Thursday, the middle school students took part in a similar workshop. Thanks to Johnny and Tim for making learning fun and for giving of your time! *Check out all the pics under “pictures” on this site!

Public Speaking Workshop

Johnny Leifheit and Tim Elliott will join us this week to teach Public Speaking Workshops on Wednesday (1st – 4th grades) and Thursday (5th – 7th grades) Both young men have staffed TeenPact, an excellent government and leadership program that seeks to “turn students into statesmen”; each one of them has taught public speaking to students 8 – 18 years old in this program. We’re grateful that they have time to teach these workshops because Johnny is currently traveling around the country interning with TeenPact, and Tim is scheduled to leave for Scotland this Sunday to study at the University of St. Andrews.
