“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.”
Matthew 7:24-27
At OVCS, our upper elementary school teachers do more than deliver lessons — they guide, encourage, and help students navigate the important transition from early learning to greater independence. With a heart for Christian education and a passion for student growth, they create classrooms that are both structured and inspiring. Through engaging lessons, hands-on projects, and meaningful relationships, our teachers help students build confidence, develop critical thinking skills, and deepen their love for learning. Their supportive and flexible approach ensures that each child feels known, valued, and equipped to succeed — both inside the classroom and beyond.
Meet Mrs. Magowan
A Fourth Grade Teacher at Ossipee Valley Christian School for 4.5 years.
Step into Mrs. Magowan’s classroom, and you’ll quickly sense the balance she brings — a structured environment that still leaves room for curiosity, creativity, and joy. “I try to keep things structured but flexible,” she explains. It’s a space where expectations are clear, but students have the freedom to explore and grow.
With 18 years of experience as a home educator and 7 years teaching in homeschool co-ops, Mrs. Magowan brings a unique perspective to the classroom — one built on connection, adaptability, and a deep love for learning.
In her own words:
“I love book studies. Reading and discussing a story together as a class creates such meaningful conversation and insight.”
“Mrs. Magowan is patient, thoughtful, and truly loves teaching. She brings joy and structure into the classroom in a way that makes learning exciting for our kids!” – Anonymous Parent
She holds an Associate’s Degree in Education from Liberty University and is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Her passion for learning is just as evident in her own journey as it is in the way she teaches her students.
For Mrs. Magowan, teaching at OVCS is about more than academics — it’s about building relationships. “I love spending time with children as we explore and learn together,” she says with a smile.
Her classroom is a place where stories come alive, students feel supported, and growth happens naturally — both personally and academically. With warmth, experience, and a love for literature, Mrs. Magowan helps her students discover the joy of learning each day.
At OVCS, we’re thankful for teachers like Mrs. Magowan, who bring structure, heart, and a sense of wonder to the classroom every day.
Meet Mrs. Harvey
A Fifth Grade Teacher at Ossipee Valley Christian School for 3 years.
Step into Mrs. Harvey’s classroom, and you’ll find a space that’s full of energy, kindness, and creativity. From interactive lessons to her unique “desk pet” system, every element is designed to make learning engaging and meaningful. “I like to incorporate a lot of different styles into my teaching so that the students can all learn in the way that is best for them,” she explains.
Her approach is hands-on, encouraging students to connect with the material in active, memorable ways. Whether they’re solving math problems or earning desk pet rewards for acts of kindness, Mrs. Harvey’s students are always learning — and having fun while they do it.
In her own words:
“I try to help the students care about each other, and we talk about kindness a lot in our classroom.”
“Mrs. Harvey creates a classroom environment where students not only grow academically but also learn how to care for one another. Her creative methods and loving heart make a big impact.” – Anonymous Parent
Mrs. Harvey holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education and brings a deep understanding of how different students learn. She’s passionate about adapting her lessons to meet individual needs and making every child feel seen and supported.
She especially enjoys teaching math. “That’s what I’ve taught the longest,” she shares, “and it’s the easiest for me to teach.” But no matter the subject, her classroom is full of excitement and encouragement.
For Mrs. Harvey, teaching at OVCS is about more than just the classroom. “I like that everyone helps each other and that we have support from other teachers as well as parents,” she says. That team spirit is something she values deeply.
Her students love the fun, hands-on activities and the chance to earn desk pets — but more than that, they love being part of a classroom where kindness is key and learning is an adventure.
At OVCS, we’re so thankful for teachers like Mrs. Harvey, who bring joy, compassion, and creativity to every lesson and every student.
