Mission

We endeavor to serve our families by inspiring academic excellence and equipping students with the biblical understanding necessary to evaluate and transform their world for God’s glory.

School Verse

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

Not Conformed…

In a society where conformity is the norm, OVCS teaches that children are made uniquely, each with individual gifts and abilities. Students are challenged to break the pattern of mediocrity and apathy, and are equipped spiritually, educationally, and socially to stand against the tide of conformity in the world without becoming of the world.

But Transformed…

At Ossipee Valley Christian School, the Bible is the hub of the educational wheel, the center of the student’s learning experience. The Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ are not substituted for any academic subjects but are integrated into the total educational program. The Bible is taught to students to develop deeper character and sound values.

By the Renewing of Your Mind…

The school seeks to provide an atmosphere that is conducive to the best Christian living and highest gains in knowledge, skills, and wisdom as well as the opportunity to learn to serve our Lord through class ministry experience. Further, it is the purpose of the school to aid students in learning, to teach the skills of reading, writing, spelling, mathematics, and independent study so thoroughly that our pupils will be unhindered in their pursuit of knowledge.

Statement of Faith

We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, as verbally inspired by God, complete and without error in the original manuscripts, that they fully contain the counsel of God concerning all things necessary for His own glory and man’s salvation, faith, and life.

We believe in one, true God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the same in substance, equal in power and glory, as He has revealed Himself in His Word.

We believe in God the Father, who created from nothing heaven and earth and everything in them; who upholds heaven and earth and everything in them; and so governs them that all things come not by chance, but by His eternal counsel and Providence.

We believe that God created man in His own image, in knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness, with a reasonable and immortal soul; that man sinned, and by that sin fell from original righteousness and communion with God, becoming dead in sin; that man was corrupted in his whole nature by sin, and that corrupt nature is conveyed to all his posterity so that all mankind are sinners by nature.

We believe in Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, not made, nor created, but conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, very God and very man, yet one Christ.

We believe that Jesus Christ, being holy and without sin, was made to be sin by becoming a curse for us; that He underwent the punishment due us, suffering death on the cross where He poured out His blood for the remission of sins; that justification of believers is only of free grace on the basis of His sacrifice and not for anything in them.

We believe in the literal resurrection of the crucified body of Jesus Christ, in His ascension into Heaven with the same body in which He suffered, and in His life there as our great High Priest, and the only Mediator between God and man.

We believe that, at a time decreed by God and known only to Him, our Lord Jesus will return from heaven, visibly and bodily, as He ascended.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the eternal salvation and everlasting life of the redeemed, and the eternal condemnation and everlasting punishment of the unregenerate.

We believe that all who come to faith in Christ Jesus and His righteousness are freely justified, receive forgiveness of sin, are regenerated having a new heart and a new spirit created in them, and by adoption, enjoy the liberties and privileges of children of God.

We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer and is the Comforter and Teacher of all who come to faith in Christ as Savior; that the Holy Spirit continually supplies strength for the believer to grow in grace and holiness in the fear of God by obedience to the commands of Christ.

We believe the church of Christ to be an assembly of true Christian believers who expect their entire salvation in Jesus Christ, are washed by His blood, and are sanctified and sealed by the Holy Spirit; its mission is to build up the body of Christ by edifying the flock, by equipping the saints for service to God, and by evangelizing all nations through the preaching of the Gospel of Christ.

School History

Ossipee Valley Christian School was born in 1979 and “raised” in the newly renovated basement of the free Baptist Church of Limerick, Maine, as a ministry of that church. It had an abundance of exceedingly dedicated enthusiastic participants – from its devoted parents, volunteers, church members, and supporters from other churches; to its top qualified and self-sacrificing teachers and staff – much the same as it enjoys today! All of that carried the school through its first 18 years as it sought to overcomes the many things it didn’t have: library, gym, lunchroom, playground, and not even a real parking lot. Even under those circumstances, OVCS grew from the K-6 to become a K – 12 school with upwards to 70 students in the late 1980s.

In 1997, upon a gracious invitation to “rent” from Hilltop Baptist Church, OVCS moved to its current location on Route 160, at 1890 North Rd., Cornish. Suddenly, the school had access to all those things it didn’t have previously, and more! In early 2015 hilltop Baptist Church announced they were moving their location; and they sold their 1890 North Rd. property, building and land, to OVCS for $1.00 (one dollar)!!! The school took full possession in August 2015; and so began year 37 of the school, in its own building.

In March 2018, another ‘milestone’ is the relationship between OVCS and the free Baptist Church of Limerick was legally dissolved, and OVCS became an independently owned and operated Christian school. OVCS has MUCH for which to thank God! We owe it all to Him and give Him all the glory the school verse, Romans 12:2, chosen in 1979 continues to guide OVCS in renewing minds for God. OVCS’s current headmaster, Scott Weirick, has been with the school for 20+ years, and is always happy to talk about the many renovations and upgrades accomplished since OVCS has owned the building… As well as some of the plans OVCS has for the future!

“Once a Knight, Always a Knight.”
