The Parent-Teacher Fellowship (PTF) group at Ossipee Valley Christian School is an integral part of our community. Led by parent volunteer, April Wadsworth, and consisting of a dedicated blend of parents and teachers all aiming to improve our school and our school experience through events and fundraisers.
The official PTF mission is:
To build the OVCS community in a way that honors and glorifies God and nurtures our children’s spiritual and academic growth.
Kicking off the new school year
We had an enthusiastic start to the year during our initial kick-off meeting. With several new faces and a wealth of creative ideas, we are all set to make this academic year memorable and fun-filled.
So, let’s delve into the exciting lineup of activities we have for the first half of the 2023-2024 school year, designed to raise funds and build fellowship among the OVCS community.
September: Norway Candle Company Fundraiser
The school year kicked off with a delightful candle fundraiser in partnership with the local Norway Candle Company. This fundraiser is known for being both local and profitable, making it a win-win for everyone involved. Participants were provided with beautifully designed order packets that featured captivating photos and fragrance descriptions.
Last year, this fundraiser earned the school an impressive $980.00!
Order packets were distributed on September 8th, with orders and money due by September 22nd, and the response has been fantastic!
In just 2-3 weeks, the candles will be delivered to the school, and distributed to the students whose families placed orders.
October: Work-a-Thon (October 20th)
Although not a PTF specific event, this is a very important school-wide effort and we are always willing to lend a helping hand in coordinating teams and ideas for service. This event, scheduled for October 20th (rain date October 27th), promises to be an excellent opportunity for community involvement.

November: Annual Thanksgiving Day Pie Fundraiser (November 20th & 21st)
The annual Thanksgiving Pie Fundraiser is a beloved tradition at OVCS.
Last year, the group baked over 100 pies from scratch within two school days, generating $1,130.00 for the PTF account.
The pie ingredient donation form and pie order forms will be sent home on October 16th.
There are three pie categories:
- Unbaked Apple
- Baked Apple
- Pumpkin
Last year, younger students created tags for the finished pies, a tradition they hope to continue this year.
Volunteers will be needed on November 20th and 21st to help with pie making, a fun and rewarding experience.
In the past, all ingredients have been donated by school families, and we hope this will be the case this year. Here’s a list of what we will need:
Apple Pie Ingredients | Pumpkin Pie Ingredients |

Pie Pricing
- 1 pie for $15
- 2 pies for $27
- 3 pies for $38
- 4 pies or more are an additional $11 each
Important notes:
- All pies must be picked up on Tuesday 11/21 at the end of the school day due to limited refrigerator space.
- We’re seeking pie-making volunteers for both Monday, 11/20, and Tuesday, 11/21, between 8am-3pm – which promise two fun-filled days!
Whether you can spare a whole day or just a few hours, your help is greatly appreciated. It’s a bustling and joyful atmosphere, filled with holiday spirit. - All orders are due Friday, November 17th! *Late Orders received on Monday 11/20 or Tuesday 11/21 are not guaranteed to be fulfilled, as we could be finished with the dough-making process or run out of specific ingredients.*
December: Christmas Program
While discussions about the possibility of a Christmas program continue, last year’s suggestions included holding it in the evening with invitations sent only to immediate family to manage seating capacity. PTF would be responsible for refreshments, possibly featuring a hot chocolate bar and baked goods. More information will be forthcoming…

Ongoing Improvements and Goals
At OVCS, our commitment to excellence goes beyond the classroom. The Parent-Teacher Fellowship Group (PTF) plays a vital role in enhancing our school environment and supporting ongoing improvements.
Our primary mission is to provide those special “extras” that make OVCS a unique and engaging place to learn and grow. This year, we’re focused not only on meeting our current obligations but also on assisting Headmaster Weirick in advancing critical school improvements. These include:
- Second-Floor Bathroom Completion. We’re dedicated to ensuring that every aspect of our school is functional and comfortable.
- Water Fountain Maintenance. Hydration is essential, and we want to make sure our students have reliable access to clean drinking water.
- HVAC and Electrician Fees. A comfortable learning environment is paramount for academic success.
- Other Essential Projects. We have a range of additional initiatives aimed at making OVCS the best it can be.
In addition to these projects, we’re proud of our dedication to the school’s overall improvement:
Playground: In the past, we organized a successful “Playground Improvement Day,” with generous material donations. We’re actively exploring avenues for funding to continue enhancing our play areas.
Lunchroom: Our plans include upgrading the lunchroom with a new floor, chair rail, and heat registers to create a more inviting and comfortable space.
Teacher’s Lounge: We’re working to create a welcoming retreat for our dedicated staff. Donations of cash, supplies like K-cups, sugar, water, creamers, and non-perishable healthy snacks are greatly appreciated. We’re also adding some greenery to bring life to the space.
Your support and participation in PTF fundraisers are crucial in achieving these goals. Together, we can ensure that OVCS remains a place where students thrive, teachers excel, and the entire community feels proud to be a part of our mission.
